A dazzling "space jellyfish" has recently appeared in the night sky over the United States. Just before sunrise, a huge and luminous space jellyfish drifted across the sky, and thousands of space enthusiasts in several US states witnessed the breathtaking sight. According to scientists, such displays occur because of a special optical phenomenon created in the upper layers of the atmosphere during rocket launches.
Images captured during the event show a formation resembling a translucent sea jellyfish glowing in the sky with a multicolored radiance, which has delighted space enthusiasts. Investigation revealed that the jellyfish-like figure was formed by the cloud of smoke left behind by a SpaceX rocket launched from Florida. The rocket's fuel vapor froze into crystals of ice in the extreme cold of space, and when sunlight struck these frozen particles, they lit up brilliantly across the sky.
The rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida 48 minutes before sunrise, and the resulting multicolored display was clearly visible from Earth. The Falcon 9 rocket was carrying essential supplies and scientific equipment bound for the International Space Station. The flight is part of a special commercial resupply mission operated for NASA.
SpaceX, the company operating the spacecraft, said more than 6,300 scientific research items and cargo are being sent to the space station as part of its 35th commercial reusable resupply mission for NASA. Through this expedition, scientists and astronauts continue their research aboard the space station. Such distinctive reactions of gaseous emissions in the upper atmosphere carry considerable scientific importance, offering fresh insights into the influence of rocket technology and the reflection of light in the atmosphere.
