Beyond the prevailing media,mobile operators are now spending huge amounts of money on advertising andpromotion through social media. And they have increased the cost of publicity.

The three major mobileoperators of the country have spent more than eight thousand 744 crore 19 lakh50 thousand dollar in the last five years in their campaign. BangladeshTelecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has submitted a report to theHigh Court. The report cited the operators\' expenditures.

On the bench of JusticeMainul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md. Ashraful Kamal, The BTRC filed thereport.

According to thecalculations, Grameenphone has spent Rs 3659 crore 47 lakh 84 thousand 500 tkin this sector, while the cost of Robi is 32 crore 13 lac 2 thousand 714 crore82 lac 43 thousand 500 tk. Banglalink, on the other hand, has spent Tk 2,419crore 93 lac 68 thousand tk.

In addition to Facebook andGoogle, other digital companies, including mobile phone operators, have spenton campaigning through social media.

On April 7, the searchengine produced a report by the High Court asking the High Court to investigatethe revenue gap of all Internet-based companies, including Google and socialmedia. This report has been made in terms of the direction of the High Courtlawyer Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab in response to a writ petition in the HighCourt ordered.

The National Board ofRevenue is expected to submit a report on Thursday but did not present it.According to the BTRC, mobile phone operators spend the money on Facebook,Google and several other platforms, including emoji, according to the BTRC.However, the report noted that they paid the money through a local agency aspart of a social media campaign bill.
