The World Bank has released 78.5billion for the Digital Entrepreneurship Project to empower digital people inthe Covid-19 epidemic. Of this, 500 million has been approved for privateinvestment and digital entrepreneurship projects. And another project calledEnhancing Digital Government and Economy has approved 28.5 million.
This information was given ina press release sent from the Dhaka office of the World Bank on Saturday (June20).
According to the announcement,signed by World Bank Country Director Mercy Tembon, the Enhancing DigitalGovernment and Economy project will establish an integrated, cloud-computingdigital platform for government agencies and improve cyber-security. This willsave 2 billion in public sector IT investment.
The project will createemployment for one lakh women, train one lakh youth in digital and disruptivetechnologies. The project will help digitize small and medium enterprises andstrategic industries.
The Digital Entrepreneurship project will set up the first Digital Entrepreneurship Center in Dhaka at theSoftware Technology Park and transform it into a green building. It willattract domestic and foreign private investment, including in the IT and ITESsectors.
This project will create 1lakh employment opportunities. Besides, 1 lakh unemployed will get varioustypes of training. In the economic zone, 20 percent of jobs will be allocatedfor women.
