Tomeet the demand for electricity, 8% of the total population of the country nowuses renewable solar power in their homes. As a result, Bangladesh ranks secondin the world in the use of solar power jointly with Mongolia. And Nepal is thefirst in the list of 11 percent of the total population using solar power orsolar home system in their homes.
Thisinformation has been published in the Global Status Report-GSR report on globalrenewable energy published by REN21 on Tuesday.
Accordingto the report, 1,500 irrigation pumps in Bangladesh are providing irrigationthrough solar power.
However,Bangladesh is not in the list of countries that use or produce renewable energyin the world.
Japanis on the list of Asian countries using per capita renewable energy out of atotal of 47 countries. However, China and India are on the list of top wind andsolar power generation.
Icelandis the first country in the world to use renewable energy per capita.
