Through virtual presence, 6,046 more accused have beengranted bail in various cases in the last five working days from all lowercourts across the country. A total of 73,116 bail applications have been heardin a total of 25 working days since the start of the virtual court proceedingsacross the country on May 11. Of these, 39,202 accused have been granted bailby the virtual court.
Mohammad Saifur Rahman, spokesperson of the Supreme Courtand special officer of the High Court Division, told reporters on Saturday.
According to him, 536 children have been granted bail throughvirtual courts in 25 working days. In the meantime, 481 children have beeninformed to their parents.
Saifur Rahman further said that 6,047 accused have beengranted bail in 12,697 bail applications disposed of in a virtual hearing inthe lower court last week. Of these, 1,353 accused have been granted bail inDhaka division. In the second-highest Mymensingh division, 1,190 accused havebeen granted bail.
Besides, 938 accused in Chittagong division, 354 in Rangpurdivision, 195 in Barisal division, 714 in Rajshahi division, 805 in Khulnadivision and 381 in Sylhet division were granted bail last week.
Incidentally, on May 10, the Supreme Court administrationdirected to hold a bail hearing only in the virtual court of the lower court.There is also a chamber court in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Courtand multiple virtual benches in the High Court Division. From then on, the bailhearing started in the virtual court in the lower court
