The ICPC-JRC Inter-College and Inter-UAP Programming Contest 2026 was held at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) in Dhaka, named after late national professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury (JRC). The contest was jointly organized by UAP's Programming Contest Club (PCC) and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering last Saturday. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury previously served as UAP's vice-chancellor.

A total of 270 contestants took part, including students from various schools and colleges as well as UAP students. During the four-hour contest, modeled on the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), participants solved a range of programming problems. Answers were automatically verified, and a scoreboard displayed results in real time. The contest was sponsored by Southeast Bank PLC and Innovative Skills Limited.

In the inter-college category, the "Desh" team of Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Public College emerged champion after solving 10 problems and received a prize of Tk 21,000. The "Wali Zamani" team of Cardiff International School, Dhaka became first runner-up with 7 solved problems and received Tk 18,000, while the "Sugoi Desu Ne" team of CDA Public School and College took second runner-up with 6 solved problems and received Tk 15,000.

In the senior division of the inter-UAP contest for UAP students, the "UAP_Koroutine" team became champion after solving 3 problems and received a prize of Tk 12,000. The "Compiler_Crew" team finished first runner-up with 2 solved problems, and the "De_Kichu_Ekta" team finished second runner-up with 1 solved problem.

In the junior division, the "Dekhi!!" team emerged champion with 5 solved problems. "Rijko" became first runner-up (5 problems) and "Algorithm_Avengers" took second runner-up (4 problems).

K M Mozibul Haque, chairperson of UAP's trustee board, was present as chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony. Selina Nawroz Chowdhury, wife of Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, attended as honored guest. Special guests included UAP trustee board member Dr. Mohammad Alauddin, Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury's daughter and professor Karishma Choudhury, Professor G. R. Ahmed Jamal, Dean of UAP's Faculty of Engineering, Professor Abul Lais M S Haque of North South University's Electronics and Communication Engineering department, distinguished Professor Mohammad Kaykobad of Brac University's Computer Science and Engineering department, Munir Hasan, president of Bangladesh Open Source Network, and Salma Begum, acting vice-principal of Government Science College, Dhaka. Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, UAP's acting vice-chancellor, attended as program chair. Professor Nasima Begum, head of UAP's Computer Science and Engineering department and director of the ICPC-JRC Inter-College and Intra-UAP Programming Contest 2026, was also present.

One of the purposes of the event was to honor the outstanding contribution of late national professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury (JRC) to the development of competitive programming in Bangladesh and to spread his legacy of work and ideals to the new generation. The ICPC Foundation has taken an initiative to provide UAP with a fund of $50,000, leading to the formulation of the ICPC-Jamilur Reza Choudhury scholarship policy. A total of 10 students are selected for the scholarship each semester.

As part of last Saturday's event, the ICPC-JRC scholarship ceremony was also held. Scholarships have been awarded for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, with a total of 20 students receiving the scholarship.
