TechLife ReportRussell T Ahmed of Team Creative has been reelected as president at Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for a two-year term.M Rashidul Hasan of Systech Digital was given responsibility of senior vice president at the apex tread body of information technology sector of the country, says a press release.Two vice-presidents are: Syed Mohammad Kamal for administration and Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan for finance. The seven elected directors of the BASIS are Md Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel, Didarul Alam, M Asif Rahman, Syed Abdullah Jayed, Mir Shahrukh Islam and Muhammad Risalat Siddique and Biplob Ghosh Rahul.The election of the executive council of BASIS took place on May 8 with 33 candidates vying for the 11 positions. Among them, eight were elected from the general category and one each from the associate, affiliate and international categories. Out of 1,464 voters, 1,157 voted in this year's BASIS election.TIM Nurul Kabir, chairman of the BASIS election board; Syed Mamnun Quader and Nazim Farhan Choudhury, members of the election board, were also present at the executive council handover ceremony at BASIS head office in the capital.
Russell’s panel swipes majority, Sohel secures highest vote
TechLife ReportTeam Creative CEO Russell T Ahmed-led panel has swiped eight positions in the BASIS election while Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel secured the highest 405 votes in bianniel polls.Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) held an election for 2024-26 at the Shooting Federation premises in Gulshan the capital on Wednesday.The eight winners in the general category of the election are -- Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel of Advanced ERP, M Rashidul Hasan of Systech Digital, Mir Shahrukh Islam of Bondstein Technologies, Dr. Muhammad Risalat Siddique of Analyzen Bangladesh, M Asif Rahman of AR Communications, Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan of Divine IT and Didarul Alam of Shooting Star. Winners in associate and affiliate categories are Syed Abdullah Jayed of Finalytics and Biplob Ghosh Rahul of Carnival Assure. Syed Mohammad Kamal of MasterCard and Abu Muhammad Rashed Mujib Noman of Augmedix got equal 3 votes in the international category while Kamal won through lottery.In this election 33 candidates contested in three panels Team Smart, One Team and Team Success. Of the eleventh executive position, Russel’s One Team won 8 positions in general, associate and affiliate categories while Team Smart of Sohel won 3 positions.Out of 1,464 voters, 1157 voted in this year's BASIS election. Among them 781 out of 932 voters voted in a general category, 250 out of 389 voters voted in the associate category, 118 out of 134 voters voted in the affiliate category and 8 out of 9 voters voted in the international category.
BASIS participates in Japan tech show

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) is supporting BASIS delegation.In this trade show in Japan BASIS members will participate in B2B meetings, seminars, and networking events to expand business with different countries. In addition, participating stalls will highlight the capabilities of Bangladesh's technology sector by informing about their products and services and branding Smart Bangladesh.Besides, this meeting will play an important role in creating a bond between investors and IT professionals, according to a press release.As a part of Japan IT Week 2024, a seminar titled “Digital Bangladesh: Your IT Destination” was organized on Wednesday. At the seminar, Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan gave a welcome speech while BHTPA Managing Director GSM Jafarullah also delivered a speech. Dr. Ariful Haque, Minister (Commerce), Embassy of Bangladesh, Tokyo and Rejwanur Kabir, COO of Destiny Inc. presented slide presentation. In the seminar, speakers said that Bangladesh is the next destination for investors in the field of information communication technology. Bangladeshi tech companies are able to provide products and services according to any international demand. Team Smart comprises bunch of young entrepreneurs

BASIS presented its National ICT Awards 68 to projects
The information technology industry in Bangladesh has been honoured with awards by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for its innovative products and service initiatives. This past Monday night, in a hotel in the country's capital, BASIS presented its "BASIS National ICT Awards" to 68 projects over 36 categories. This is the fifth time this event has taken place. In the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards competition, there will be participation from a number of projects that have previously won awards.Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed released a video message portraying the awards event. He stated in the message that the information and communication technology sector's export income now stands at 1.4 billion dollars. By 2025, we intend to raise this income to $5 billion.Lifetime Association Chairman and Chief Judge Abdullah H. Kafi supervised the evaluation process for the BASIS National ICT Awards. He stated that winning an award in the APICTA Awards competition is difficult. Therefore, award-winning projects as champions must prepare extremely well.Russell T. Ahmed, the president of BASIS, said at the event that BASIS will work to enhance the efficiency of the best projects that have won Apicta Awards. Numerous Bangladeshi projects have won the Apicta Awards competition over a number of years.NM Ziaul Alam, the Senior Secretary of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, and Md. Jasim Uddin, the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, were the honored guests of the occasion.In this arrangement of BASIS, 21 projects have been champions. Russel elected president and Himika as senior vice president of BASIS
Russell T. Ahmed has been elected President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), one of the leading trade organizations in the IT sector and Samira Zuberi Himika of Giga Tech has been elected Senior Vice President.On Tuesday, The distribution took place among the newly elected executive council of the organization at the BASIS office of the BDBL building at Karwan Bazar. Abu Daud Khan of Enrout International has become the Vice President (Administration) and Fahim Ahmed of Pathao has become the Vice President (Finance).Besides, there are other 6 directors from different companies Habibullah N Karim of Techno Haven, Mushfiqur Rahman of Advanced ERP, Rashad Kabir of Dream 71 Bangladesh, Tanvir Hossain Khan of Dimmerz Lab. Earlier on Sunday, a total of 29 candidates contested for 11 posts for a two-year term in the 2022-23 session of the organization. The panel one team got the majority in the election. The panel won 4 posts in the general category and 4 posts in the associate and affiliate categories. On the other hand, Synergy Squad panel won 4 posts in the general category. There was no competition as there was a single candidate in the international member category.
