Teletalk will provide internet bandwidth at nominal cost to the students
Government mobile operator Teletalk Bangladesh Limited will provide internet bandwidth at nominal cost to the students of public and private universities of the country to continue their online education activities. Students from all universities in the country using the BDREN platform run by the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) will get this facility. At present, 42 public and 8 private universities are using BDREN platform. Students will be able to participate in classes online through the Zoom application. For this, students have to be under the network of Teletalk. The facility will be available for a monthly recharge of Tk 100, the UGC said in a press release on Wednesday (September 2). The recharged money will be credited to his original account. This money can be spent on voice calls and data. Unused money will be added to the next recharge. However, this facility cannot be availed if you recharge below Tk 100 and do not have minimum data in the SIM. The notification further said that BDREN sent a letter to all mobile operators including Teletalk Bangladesh Limited on July 21 to enable students to use free online education resources. In response to Bdren's call, Teletalk issued a letter of consent on August 27. In the letter, Teletalk said that Bdren's majesty is feeling lucky to be involved in the national crisis. Teletalk thinks that through this initiative a huge portion of the students will come under their network during online classes. In this context, the chairman of the UGC, Professor. Kazi Shahidullah said the initiative to keep students online at the university level during the Corona epidemic is very timely. He thanked the Ministry of Education, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and Teletalk Bangladesh Limited for responding to the initiative to provide internet bandwidth at nominal cost. The UGC Chairman expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Education and the Minister of Telecommunications for taking effective steps to provide free internet bandwidth to the students to keep the country's higher education activities afloat. The Education Minister recently expressed optimism that measures would be taken within the first week of September to enable students to access digital devices and internet at low cost.

BDU launched online library
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, the country's first digital university, has launched an online library for students after launching online classes during the Corona period.The online library was inaugurated on Thursday (June 18) by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Munaj Ahmed Noor. 6047 accused got bail in the virtual hearing in 5 days
Through virtual presence, 6,046 more accused have been granted bail in various cases in the last five working days from all lower courts across the country. A total of 73,116 bail applications have been heard in a total of 25 working days since the start of the virtual court proceedings across the country on May 11. Of these, 39,202 accused have been granted bail by the virtual court.Mohammad Saifur Rahman, spokesperson of the Supreme Court and special officer of the High Court Division, told reporters on Saturday.According to him, 536 children have been granted bail through virtual courts in 25 working days. In the meantime, 481 children have been informed to their parents.Saifur Rahman further said that 6,047 accused have been granted bail in 12,697 bail applications disposed of in a virtual hearing in the lower court last week. Of these, 1,353 accused have been granted bail in Dhaka division. In the second-highest Mymensingh division, 1,190 accused have been granted bail.Besides, 938 accused in Chittagong division, 354 in Rangpur division, 195 in Barisal division, 714 in Rajshahi division, 805 in Khulna division and 381 in Sylhet division were granted bail last week. Incidentally, on May 10, the Supreme Court administration directed to hold a bail hearing only in the virtual court of the lower court. There is also a chamber court in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and multiple virtual benches in the High Court Division. The World Bank has approved 78.5 million dollar for digital projects in Bangladesh
The World Bank has released 78.5 billion for the Digital Entrepreneurship Project to empower digital people in the Covid-19 epidemic. Of this, 500 million has been approved for private investment and digital entrepreneurship projects. And another project called Enhancing Digital Government and Economy has approved 28.5 million.This information was given in a press release sent from the Dhaka office of the World Bank on Saturday (June 20).According to the announcement, signed by World Bank Country Director Mercy Tembon, the Enhancing Digital Government and Economy project will establish an integrated, cloud-computing digital platform for government agencies and improve cyber-security. This will save 2 billion in public sector IT investment.The project will create employment for one lakh women, train one lakh youth in digital and disruptive technologies. The project will help digitize small and medium enterprises and strategic industries.The Digital Entrepreneurship project will set up the first Digital Entrepreneurship Center in Dhaka at the Software Technology Park and transform it into a green building. It will attract domestic and foreign private investment, including in the IT and ITES sectors. This project will create 1 lakh employment opportunities. Besides, 1 lakh unemployed will get various types of training. In the economic zone, 20 percent of jobs will be allocated for women.
New connection to telecom service
BTCL has strengthened automation for the purpose of providing customer friendly services. The ICT department has created software for healthcare accountability
In addition to increasing investment in the digital transformation of the health sector in the country, the ICT department has developed a Health Govt Resource Planning (GRP) software to bring the government healthcare sector under transparency and accountability. This software will be able to increase the speed of health care. Bangladesh is the second in the world to use renewable solar power
To meet the demand for electricity, 8% of the total population of the country now uses renewable solar power in their homes. As a result, Bangladesh ranks second in the world in the use of solar power jointly with Mongolia. However, China and India are on the list of top wind and solar power generation. Iceland is the first country in the world to use renewable energy per capita.
Bangladeshis are getting international debit card facility
For the first time in the country, Bangladesh Bank has allowed banks to introduce international debit cards. This permission will allow the bank to issue an international debit card against an account. Like credit cards, customers will not be able to spend more than 12,000 per annum abroad in the annual travel quota.The central bank's foreign exchange policy department has sent a circular on June 16 to the chief executives of all banks.The letter, signed by the general manager of the department, gave three instructions to issue international credit cards.It said that from now on, banks will be able to issue international credit cards against the customer's local currency bank account opened under the travel quota. Before spending abroad, you have to get dollar endorsement from the bank in the customer's passport. In order to adjust the money spent abroad, the customer must have enough money as the account with which the international debit card will be attached.It has been reported that with this international debit card, you can go abroad and do all the approved things like credit card, shopping, travel, hotel bill payment. That is why you have to endorse the dollar worth of annual travel quota before going abroad. However, a person cannot spend more than 12 thousand dollars a year. Only if you have money in your account can the customer spend the entire 12,000 of the travel quotas. Earlier, the limit was 5,000 for SAARC countries and Myanmar. In addition, the limit for other countries was 7 thousand dollars. Debit card costs cannot be more than this.
Half of the voters got smart cards
