Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on July 9, 2019, tells parliament that the government will take tougher measures to realise outstanding money from different private mobile phone operators.
"The government already has established a position to manufacture different digital devices," he said at a discussion on "Technology, innovation and policy: How to proceed?" at the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dhaka.
Already at least seven companies have applied to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to set up mobile plants and some of them will start to assemble 4G-enabled handsets by June.

Former president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), Jabbar said, "The country has failed to build an innovation culture, and there is little value placed on invention in this country. To reach our full potential, we must reform our culture and ensure that innovation is valued ".
